Ole Miss Hosts Red & Blue Classic This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss softball team will host the fifth annual Red & Blue Classic at the Ole Miss Softball Complex beginning on Friday. The Rebels open the tournament with matchups against Austin Peay at 1 p.m. and Louisiana Teach at 5 p.m. on Friday and six-team tournament will run through Sunday.
The Rebels will welcome a total of five non-conference teams to Oxford - Austin Peay, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, Southeast Missouri and Western Kentucky - for the round-robin affair. A total of 15 games will be played, with six games coming Friday and Saturday and the final three on Sunday.
Ole Miss enters the weekend with a 3-8 record on the season after posting a win over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. Sophomore Brittany Broome leads the Rebels with a .407 batting average on the season, while freshman RT Cantillo has a team-high seven RBI. Junior transfer Kendall Bruning has a 3.5 ERA with a team-best 41 strikeouts in the circle.
Austin Peay enters the Classic with a 2-6 record on the year, while Louisiana Tech is 3-8 on the season. South Alabama has posted a 7-3 mark, Southeast Missouri is 1-4 and Western Kentucky is 3-2 this season.
