Randolph Set To Compete In Prestigious Jones Cup Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss men's golfer Jonathan Randolph will compete in the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational this weekend at the Ocean Forest Club in St. Simon's Island, Ga.
The All-American from Brandon, Miss., is among a who's who of the top amateur and collegiate golfers who will tee it up Friday-Sunday at the Par 72, 7,326-yard course. The field will be comprised of the top amateur golfers from all across the globe. The tournament is considered the top pre-qualifier for the Walker Cup, the bi-annual match between the top United States and European amateur golfers.
Randolph becomes the first Rebel player to qualify for the prestigious event since Callum Macaulay was selected to participate in 2007. Macaulay finished tied for 18th in the event.
"We are very proud of Jonathan for earning an invitation to this tournament," head coach Ernest Ross said. "It's a very elite field with many of the world's best amateur golfers. We wish him the best of luck this weekend."
Randolph enjoyed one of the best seasons by a Rebel golfer in 2010, becoming the ninth All-American in the program's history and ending the year ranked No. 6 in the nation. He posted the lowest stroke average in a season by a Rebel and was a member of the winning Palmer Cup Team in the summer. The senior finished the fall with three top five showings including a sixth place finish at the Western Refining All-America classic. Randolph leads the Rebels and ranks among the top five in the SEC with a 71.06 stroke average.
