SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Ole Miss claimed victory in five events in a strong showing at the Meyo Invitational indoor track meet over the weekend.

"It was an encouraging weekend for our team," head coach Joe Walker said. "We had good performances that came from all of our areas - throws, jumps, sprints and distance."

The Rebel men nearly swept the jumping events. Sophomore Ricky Robertson, ranked second in the nation in the high jump, won the event with another spectacular height of 7-04.25. Junior Caleb Lee won the long jump with a personal-best leap of 25-06.75, and sophomore Morris Kersh finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 49-01.50.

On Friday, Juliana Smith broke her own school record in the weight throw. A senior from Loganville, Ga., she hurled her weight to a record distance of 66-04.00, a full three feet past her previous school record of 63-04.00 that she recorded in 2009. Her throw is just shy of the NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 68-10.00 and ranks among the top 10 throws in the nation this year.

Lee shattered his previous personal best by six inches with his long jump that ranks 10th in the NCAA this year and makes Lee the fourth-best performer in school history. Robertson placed fifth with a personal-best jump of 24-01.75.

Sophomore Mike Granger won the 60 meters on Saturday with a time of 6.67 after he tied his personal best of 6.66 to claim the top spot in Friday's preliminaries. It was an excellent weekend for Granger, who missed the Rebels' last meet with an injury. The Hickory, Miss., native ran a 6.66 at last year's SEC and NCAA Championships and was ranked 11th in the country this year with a previous season-best time of 6.67.

The men's 4x400 meter relay quartet of Dante Oliver, Christopher Bush, Matt Daniels and Lee Ellis Moore claimed victory with a season-best time of 3:10.79.

Jonathan Juin ran 21.61 in the 200 meters to finish in third place.

Sofie Persson was edged in the 800 meters as she finished second with a season-best time of 2:06.77. She came into the meet ranked 10th in the nation in that event.

In the triple jump, Aria Gaines topped her previous best by jumping 40-11.50 to place third.

Betty Williams posted a shot put distance of 50-05.25 to take third place in the event with a mark just over two feet shy of her own school record.

Logan Waites, who owns the top 5,000 meter time among Southeastern Conference females this year, was unable to finish the 5,000 on Friday due to illness. However, her long distance counterpart of Katie Breathitt ran a 10:04.32 in the 3,000 meters to become the second-ranked performer in that event in school history.

Next for the Ole Miss track and field squad is next weekend's Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., followed by the SEC Championships, also in Fayetteville, on Feb. 25-27.
