Rebels Kick Off Home Series With Lipscomb On Friday

THIS WEEKEND FOR OLE MISS:
Ole Miss continues its home stand this weekend, hosting Lipscomb in a three-game series. Friday's game is at 6:30 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday's games beginning at 1:30 p.m. It marks the first time the Rebels have faced off against the Bison on the mound in the history of the two programs.

NEXT WEEK FOR THE REBELS:
Ole Miss continues to play at home next week with a single midweek contest against Jackson State on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. The Rebels then kick-off Southeastern Conference play over the weekend with a three-game series against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. on SportSouth and Sunday's game is set for a 1:30 p.m. start.

PROBABLE PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
FRIDAY, 6:30 P.M.
LU - Richie Goodenow, Sr., LHP
OM - Matt Crouse, Jr., LHP
NOTING CROUSE: Junior left-hander Matt Crouse takes the mound on Friday night looking to remain perfect on the year as he puts his 3-0 record on the line against Lipscomb. To date, Crouse has struck out 13 batters and walked only one batter in 18.0 innings of work. The southpaw holds a 2.50 ERA and has limited hitters to a .235 batting average against while allowing only five earned runs on 16 hits to date.

SATURDAY, 1:30 P.M.
LU - Connor Sinclair, Jr., RHP
OM - David Goforth, Jr., RHP
NOTING GOFORTH: Goforth makes his fourth start of the season on Saturday when the Rebels take on the Bisons. Goforth has made three starts this season and has allowed only seven runs in a team-leading 19.1 innings of work. Despite the limited run production, the right-hander is 0-2 on the year after suffering the loss in his last two outings. Opponents are hitting .262 against Goforth with 10 strikeouts and seven walks. The hurler holds a 3.26 ERA on the year.

SUNDAY, 1:30 P.M.
LU - Dannie Strable, Jr., RHP
OM - Austin Wright, Jr., LHP
NOTING WRIGHT: Wright makes his fourth start for the Rebels in the Sunday role this weekend and holds a 1-1 record in 15.2 innings of work. Wright picked up the win at Houston before falling to Tulane this past weekend. He took no decision in his first start against Wright State. The left-hander has struck out 16 batters and walked nine in his time on the mound while holding to a 4.02 ERA. Wright has allowed seven runs through three games.

A LOOK AT LIPSCOMB:
The Bison of Lipscomb enter the weekend with an overall record of 7-6 and are coming off a midweek win over Morehead State on Wednesday night. The Bison were swept over the previous weekend by Purdue in Nashville. As a team, Lipscomb is batting .264 on the season and is led at the plate by Richie Goodenow with a .412 average, two home runs and 11 RBI. Goodenow is also the Friday night starter for the Bison as part of a pitching staff that holds a 3.42 ERA. As a staff, Lipscomb has struck out 115 batters and walked 62 this season. Saturday starter Connor Sinclair leads the staff with a 1-1 record anda 1.50 ERA ith 20 strikeouts and six walks.

OLE MISS VS. LIPSCOMB:
Ole Miss and Lipscomb have not faced each other on the diamond in the history of the two schools.

SOME HAVE HIT STREAKS ON THE LINE:
Several Rebels have hit streaks on the line coming into the weekend, led by Matt Tracy with a five-game hit streak. Alex Yarbrough is right behind him with a four-game hit streak, while Preston Overbey has notched a hit in three consecutive games.

OTHERS KEEP REACHING BASE:
While hit streaks are an eye-catching stat, an often overlooked stat is reaching base. Alex Yarbrough leads the way with seven straight games reaching base safely. Matt Tracy has reached safely in four consecutive contests, while Taylor Hightower has gotten on board in four straight games played and Preston Overbey has reached three straight times along with Jordan King. Matt Snyder held the longest streak this year with 12 games.
