BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Connor Vogel of the Ole Miss women's tennis team has been named the SEC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Vogel, a native of Germantown, Tenn., went 3-1 in singles and doubles to lead the Rebels to consecutive top 40 wins over UNLV and Arizona on spring break.

With junior All-American Kristi Boxx out of the lineup, Vogel played No. 1 singles and won both matches in straight sets. She owns a 10-3 dual match record, 5-1 at No. 1 and 5-2 at No. 2 singles. Vogel defeated 89th-ranked Lucia Batta (UNLV) to set up teammate Laura van de Stroet's match-clinching win at No. 3 singles.

Vogel has won eight of her last nine, with her only loss in that stretch coming at No. 1 singles against Vanderbilt.

The wins over UNLV and Arizona snapped a three-match losing streak for the Rebels, who have been battling injuries to key players.

This is the second weekly league honor for Vogel, who also earned SEC Player of the Week honors last year.

The Rebels host No. 1 Florida Friday at 3 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Admission is free.
