ATHENS, Ga. - Freshman third baseman Londen Lander smashed a solo home run deep down the line in left to break a one-all tie in the top of the sixth inning, but Georgia right fielder Brittney Hubbard answered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame to lift the fourth-ranked Bulldogs to 3-2 win over Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon at Jack Turner Stadium.

The round tripper was Ladner's second of the series and team-leading fifth of the season. She finished the game 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored.

Ole Miss (14-33, 3-17 SEC) grabbed an early 1-0 in the top of the first thanks to a Bulldog miscue. Ladner walked with two down and nobody on and moved to third after first baseman Brittany Barnhill looped a singled into center. Shortstop Natalie Nimmo then hit a slow roller to her Georgia counterpart Laura Trout, whose errant throw sailed over first base and allowed Lander to score.

The Bulldogs (39-6, 14-5 SEC) tied the game at one in the bottom of the first on an RBI infield single from designated player Ashley Razey.

Ole Miss starting pitcher Kendall Bruning cruised through the next four innings, allowing just one hit, before Megan Wiggins tripled to right center with one out in the fifth. However, she induced the next two Bulldogs to pop out and strain Wiggins at third. Bruning suffered the complete-game loss allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits in six innings. She struck out six and issued six walks.

The Rebels threatened in the top of the seventh after center fielder Amanda Hutcheson doubled to right with one down, but UGA starting pitcher Alison Owen struck out the next two batters to end the game.

Next up, Ole Miss will play its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, when the Rebels travel to face Mississippi Valley State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
