Ole Miss Drops Game Two At Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. - After a picking up a series-opening win last night against the Bulldogs, the Ole Miss Rebel softball team dropped Saturday's game 3-0 to Mississippi State. The Rebels and the Bulldogs will play the rubber match of their three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
MSU (18-18, 6-6 SEC) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Ole Miss shortstop Natalie Nimmo lost a pop fly in the sun with two outs, which allowed Ali Bainbridge to score from second. The Bulldogs added to their lead in the third with a sac fly to center by catcher Sam Lenahan and an RBI single from second baseman Heidi Shape that put MSU up 3-0 after three.
Brittany Barnhill started for the Rebels (13-15, 3-10 SEC) and pitched 3.1 innings. She allowed three runs, all earned, on three hits and struck out five. Lindsey Perry entered in relief in the fourth and worked the final 2.2 innings. She allowed just one hit and struck out one batter.
Freshman RT Cantillo picked up two of the Rebels' four hits in the game on a pair of singles.
