Rebels Host SEMO On Fan Appreciation Day At Swayze Field

THIS WEEK FOR OLE MISS:
Ole Miss will play their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday night against Southeast Missour State at 6:30 p.m. as a makeup game for one of the earlier rainouts this season. Tuesday's game against SEMO will be Fan Appreciation Day at the stadium on with all fans being admitted for free.The game will also be available for free on RebelVision for fans.
The Rebels will then hit the road to close out the regular season at #16 Arkansas beginning on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. Friday's game is on CSS at 6 p.m. and Saturday is at 2 p.m.
PROBABLE PITCHING MATCH-UPS:
TUESDAY, 6:30 P.M.

OM - R.J. Hively, Jr., RHP
NOTING HIVELY: Junior right-hander R.J. Hively will make his first start of the season after making 12 appearances in his first season with the Rebels. The junior holds a 1-2 record with an ERA of 8.22 through 15.1 innings of work as a reliever. Hively worked a season-long 3.0 innings in relief at Arkansas State two weeks ago , allowing one run on five his with a season-high five strikeouts. Hively picked up the win in that relief outing against the Red Wolves of Arkansas State as he allowed the Rebels the chance to rally for the win.
A LOOK AT SEMO:
The Red Hawks of Southeast Missouri State enter the midweek contest with the Rebels holding an overall record of 29-19 and are coming off a series loss to regular season OVC Champions Austin Peay this past weekend. At the plate, the Red Hawks are hitting at a .310 clip and are led by Trenton Moses with a .380 batting average and a team-leading 10 home runs and 45 RBI. The SEMO pitching staff holds a 4.78 ERA. Tuesday night starter Josh Syberg has posted a 2-1 record with a 6.29 ERA through 24.1 innings of work. He has struck out 12 and walked eight in his time on the mound.
OLE MISS VS. SEMO:
Ole Miss and Southeast Missouri State have faced off 15 times in the history of the two programs with the Rebels leading 13-2 in the series.
LAST TIME OUT VS. SEMO:
Ole Miss and the Red Hawks last faced off in the 2005 season with the Rebels claiming a pair of wins over SEMO on March 15 and 16, 6-5 and 3-0.
SOME HAVE HIT STREAKS ON THE LINE:
Several players hold hit streaks heading into the contest with Mississippi State, led by sophomore OF Tanner Mathis. Mathis has hit safely in 10 straight games after posting a 23 game hit streak earlier this season. Alex Yarbrough (7), Austin Anderson (5) and Matt Snyder are other Rebels with hit streaks of more than two games.
OTHERS KEEP REACHING BASE:
While Tanner Mathis saw his 23 game hit streak end at Auburn, the sophomore has reached base in more consecutive games. Mathis currently holds a streak of 40 straight games reaching base. Hamblin (9), Yarbrough (8), Snyder (7), Anderson (5) and Allen (3) are the only other players who have actively reached in more than two consecutive games.
23-GAME HIT STREAK:
Tanner Mathis worked his way into the record books this season when he posted a 23 game hit streak, the third longest hit streak in school history. The streak was snapped in the series finale at Auburn (4/23) after starting against Jackson State (3/15). The hit streak is second longest in a single season behind Cody Overbeck's 24 game hit streak in 2008. Brian Pettway set the record with a 28 game hit streak that spanned two seasons from 2004-2005.
RAZORBACKS - REBELS PICKED UP BY CSS:
The Rebels and Razorbacks will have a game added to the TV slate this year as CSS will carry the Friday ngiht game of the series (game two) as the Viewer's Choice game. The game time has been moved to 6 p.m. at Baum Stadium.
