Season Ends For Women's Tennis

STANFORD, Calif. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team concluded the 2011 season Friday night at the Taube Tennis Center with the doubles tandem of Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie falling to Clemson's Keri Wong and Josipa Bek 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Boxx and Guthrie got broke to start the match, and fell behind 2-0. They had chances to break at 1-2 but the Clemson duo held and went on to win the first set 6-2. Boxx and Guthrie got broke early in the second set as well, but were able to get back on serve. They later broke at 5-3 and Guthrie served it out for 6-3. In the final set, Wong and Bek broke for a 3-1 lead and held on to win it 6-2. The Rebels had several chances to break back at 2-4, but couldn't convert. Clemson won the final two games to close out the match.
Earlier in the day, Boxx lost her singles match to sixth-ranked Allie Will of Florida 6-4, 6-1 to end the year at 22-12. Boxx was down 5-1 in the first set to Will, but got back to 5-4, before Will served it out. The 2010 SEC Freshman of the Year carried the momentum into the second set quickly taking the lead and closing out Boxx 6-1 to advance.
