BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Six more Rebels advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with strong performances on the second day of the East Preliminary Round Friday from the E.C. Billy Hayes Track on the campus of Indiana University.

Making it through to the June 8-11 NCAA Championships were Mike Granger in the men's 100 meters, Lee Ellis Moore and Carson Blanks in the men's 400 meter hurdles, Morris Kersh in the men's triple jump, Sofie Persson in the women's 400 meter hurdles and Marci Morman in the women's triple jump.

Each of those six Rebels were among the top 12 finishers in their event at the East preliminary, which advance to the national semifinal and final rounds of the NCAA Championships held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

They join Ricky Robertson (men's high jump), Caleb Lee (men's long jump), Neal Tisher (women's pole vault) and Juliana Smith (women's hammer throw), who qualified on the first day of the prelims.

Granger, a sophomore and two-time indoor All-American, qualified for his fourth straight NCAA Championships (two indoor, two outdoor). He finished 10th in the 100 meter semifinals with a time of 10.42 on Friday.

The Rebels will send two men's 400 meter hurdlers to Des Moines in Moore (4th, 50.29) and Blanks (10th, 51.10). Moore, the 2011 SEC champion in the event, will return to the outdoor championships for the third time in his main event. The senior earned All-America honors in the event in 2009. Blanks, a junior, will return to the championships for the second straight year.

Kersh, a sophomore, will make his first NCAA Championships appearance after he took ninth place in the triple jump on Friday with a leap of 51-02.75.

On the women's side, Persson qualified in the 400 meter hurdles for the second time in her career. The senior and two-time indoor All-American finished ninth in Bloomington with a time of 57.71.

Morman, a sophomore, will make her first NCAA Championships appearance after she leaped to a personal-best 41-04.25 for 10th place in the triple jump. That distance ranks her fifth in school history.

Additionally, Jonathan Juin won his heat and advanced to the semifinals of the 200 meters, which will take place Saturday in Bloomington.

Other Rebels to compete on the final day of the East preliminary will be Betty Williams in the women's discus and the men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
