BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss sophomore Ricky Robertson was named Southeastern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after his school-record high jump at the prestigious Drake Relays this past weekend.

Robertson, a native of Hernando, Miss., cleared 7-05.75 to tie his own school record and move into the second-ranked spot in the nation this year among college athletes. He now ranks fourth in the high jump this year among American athletes, college or pro, and 10th among all high jumpers in the world. He has the highest jump by an SEC athlete this year - by two inches.

In a matchup of elite college and professional high jumpers at the Drake Relays, the three-time defending SEC champion (indoor and outdoor) finished second among collegians to Kansas State's Erik Kynard, who jumped the highest of anyone in the nation this year at 7-07.00. Robertson had a pair of near misses at that height.

This is the fourth weekly honor for a Rebel during the 2011 outdoor season and the first for Robertson. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week twice last year en route to SEC Freshman Field Athlete of the Year honors. One of the outstanding jumpers in the nation, Robertson has won all three SEC high jump championships since he started college and is a three-time All-American in the event.

Ole Miss continues to prepare for the upcoming SEC Championships, which take place May 12-15 in Athens, Ga.
