OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss volleyball team was picked to finish second in the Southeastern Conference Western Division in the 2011 season in a vote of the league's coaches, the conference office announced on Monday.

Ole Miss was picked second in the Division behind LSU, who was a unanimous selection to win the Division.

The Rebels posted a 19-13 mark in the 2010 season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last five years. Returning to help lead Ole Miss in 2010 are a pair of seniors in All-American middle blocker Regina Thomas and defensive specialist Morgan Springer.

Eight of the Rebels 15 players are either juniors or seniors, giving Ole Miss a veteran squad heading into the season.

Ole Miss opens the season the weekend of August 26 at the Burnt Orange Classic at the University of Texas. The Rebels will open with an exhibition match against the Israeli National Team before facing Pepperdine and the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday, August 27.

Coming off a 20-0 SEC season, 29-2 overall, Florida was selected to win the overall title after receiving nine of the 11 first-place votes for this year's prediction. The Tennessee Lady Vols received two first-place votes after posting a 25-7 overall record and a 15-5 SEC record.

Florida was picked to win the Eastern Division with 12 points, followed by Tennessee with 19 points and the Kentucky Wildcats with 26 points. The Georgia Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks are picked to finish fourth and fifth in the division, respectively.
