OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss opens 2011 football preseason camp this week, as newcomers report Thursday and varsity players Friday.
Rebel fans will have the opportunity for a sneak peak at the squad, as outdoor drills the first week will be open to the public, beginning Saturday (Aug. 6) through Saturday (Aug. 13). The first seven practices will begin at 4:30 p.m. each day, while the time of the Saturday, Aug. 13 workout will be announced at a later date.
Use of cellular phones and cameras are prohibited for fans at practice, and fans must remain in the designated area and are not allowed between the practice fields.
If the team's practice moves into the Indoor Practice Facility (due to rain or heat), practice closes to fans.
Rebel Football Media Day will be held Monday (Aug. 8), and OleMissSports.com will have exclusive coverage of the activities. RebelVision will stream Coach Houston Nutt's press conference live at 9 a.m.
The fans will have their opportunity to visit with the 2011 team Aug. 20 as part of Meet the Rebels Day festivities. The annual event, which is hosted by the UMAA Foundation, begins with lunch at noon and features food, merchandise and autograph opportunities with players and coaches.
Among the items for sale will be the 2011 media guide which recently hit bookshelves. The 208-page publication contains rosters, bios, statistics on all the returning stars and incoming signees as well as a preview of the upcoming season. As always, the book also provides a colorful look at the University and the history of the storied Rebel football program.
