OXFORD, Miss. - After practice on Wednesday, the Ole Miss football team is now three days removed from its season opening game against BYU on Saturday.
"We are one day closer and I'm getting more and more anxious" head coach Houston Nutt said. "Tomorrow we will hit some two minute situations and be 48 hours away."
Ole Miss will have a number of young players playing their first collegiate game on Saturday.
"They are anxious and excited. But they are not showing any nervousness right now," Nutt said of the new players. "They may be nervous when they run out of that tunnel and put their hand on Chucky Mullins, but right now they are not," Nutt said.
On Wednesday, Ole Miss unveiled its new format for its weekly coaches show.
"J. Stern, Micah Ginn, Darrias Thomas, Shane Sanford and Greg Gray and their crew have done an unbelievable job with the coaches show," Nutt said. "I saw it today for the first time. I think it's going to keep people's attention and its format will go nationwide in hurry."
Nutt also commented on the new depth chart that was released today.
"We are trying to do what our guys do best and trying to get the best guys on the field," Nutt said. "Ralph Williams has been hurt for a while but we expect him to play. We are just trying to get the best 11 on the field. I feel comfortable with Aaron Garbutt too, he's had a good camp."
Saturday's season opener against BYU is set for a 3:45 p.m. CT kickoff.
