  • Ole Miss is 3-0 all time against current Missouri Valley Conference members knocking off Southern Illinois and Indiana State 56-10 in 1995. The Rebels are also 12-1 against NCAA FCS teams since 1992.
  • Ole Miss is 51-13 versus non-conference opponents dating back to a 38-0 win over Tulane on Nov. 12, 1994. The Rebels are also 38-8 in their last 45 non-conference games in Oxford and have won 11 of their last 13.

OFFENSIVE NOTES

  • Running back Jeff Scott is the first Rebel to score two rushing touchdowns and return a punt for a touchdown in the same game since Deuce McAllister versus Auburn in 2000. He also became the first Rebel to score three TDs in one quarter since Randy Baldwin scored three times in the first quarter versus Arkansas State in 1990.
  • Scott rushed for a career-high three touchdowns in the game and is the first Ole Miss player to rush for three scores since Dexter McCluster scored four rushing TDs against Tennessee in 2009.
  • Scott finished the game with 118 yards rushing for the second 100-yard rushing game for his career. He also added 63 yards on punt returns and 29 yards on kick returns for 210 all-purpose yards, the most all-purpose yards since he totaled 214 against LSU last year.
  • Quarterback Zack Stoudt threw his first career touchdown pass to tight end Jamal Mosley, which was also Mosley's first career TD reception.
  • Quarterback Randall Mackey scored his first career touchdown on a six-yard rush in the third quarter.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

  • Wayne Dorsey picked off his first career pass in the first quarter. It also marked the fourth-straight game the Rebels have record an interception dating back to the LSU game last season.
  • Charles Sawyer intercepted his second pass of the season. Sawyer tied for the team lead with two picks last season and now has four in his career.
  • Marcus Temple picked off his first pass of the season and the second of his career.
  • Senior Damien Jackson intercepted the first pass of his career in the fourth quarter which gave Ole Miss four interceptions in a game for the first time since the Rebels picked off four passes against Oklahoma State in the 2010 Cotton Bowl.
  • The Rebels have five interceptions after two games this year after picking off a total of six passes last season. Ole Miss picked off its fifth pass of the season in the 11th game last season.
  • Junior Aaron Garbutt tied for the team lead in tackles with a career-high eight stops (four solo).

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES

  • Junior Bryson Rose converted all six PATs in the game. Rose has made 47-straight PATs dating back to last season.
  • Junior Tyler Campbell punted five times for a 42.2-yard average and downed four punts inside the 20-yard line.

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS

  • The official attendance of 58,504 is the third largest crowd ever to witness a Saluki football game. Games at Illinois in 1985 (76,330) and 1990 (64,459) are the only bigger crowds.
  • After his 53-yard reception in the first quarter, Luke Standiford had two career receptions for 96 yards. He caught a 43-yard reception in 2010.
  • Kayon Swanson never had more than a half of a sack before Saturday. He recorded two in the first quarter against Ole Miss.
  • With his 16-yard rush that converted a 3rd-and-12 in the second quarter, Paul McIntosh eclipsed 900 career rushing yards and moved within 200 yards of breaking Joel Sambursky's career quarterback rushing record.
  • SIU outplayed Ole Miss in several categories. SIU outperformed the Rebels in yards (170-151), first downs (10-9), rushing yards (94-81), passing yards (76-70) and time of possession (18:12-11:48). SIU ended the game ahead in all those categories, as well.
  • Rik Hicks TD reception at the end of the third quarter was his first career catch.
  • Steve Strother's 74-yard run was a career-long for Strother and the longest play of the year for the Salukis, eclipsing a 70-yard TD pass from McIntosh to Cam Fuller in week one. Both of those plays were longer than any Saluki offensive play in 2010. The last time a Saluki had a 70+ yard rush was Deji Karim in 2009.

CAREER HIGHS

1.) Luke Standiford: Career-high 53 yard reception.

2.) Paul McIntosh: Career-high 39-yard rush.

3.) Steve Strother: 74-yard rush

4.) Kayon Swanson: 8 tackles, 3 TFL, and 2 sacks.
