Rebels Travel To Lone Star State

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas this weekend for the Best Western Marina Grand Islanders Classic hosted Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In addition to the Rebels and host Islanders, the tournament field includes North Dakota, Texas-San Antonio and Texas Southern.

The Rebels will open tournament play on Friday at 1 p.m. versus Texas-San Antonio and will face host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. On Saturday, Ole Miss will take on Texas Southern at 11 a.m. and UTSA again at 3 p.m. Live in-game stats will be available on OleMissSports.com for every game.

Senior Kendall Bruning leads Ole Miss both at the plate and in the circle with a team-best 10 RBI and three wins, a 3.45 ERA and 17 strikeouts. Freshman Dallas Hardin leads the squad with a team-high .471 batting average, while Brunning and freshman Allison Brown pace the club with one homerun each.

The Rebels are 1-0 all-time versus Texas-San Antonio and 1-1 all-time against Texas A&M-CC. Ole Miss has never faced Texas Southern. The game will also mark a return of sorts for Rebel Texas natives Erinn Jayjohn and Natalie Nimmo.
