The freshman worked 4.0 innings and held the Red Wolves to one run on three hits with a walk and a strikeout in the outing. Smith holds a 1.69 ERA on the season and has worked a total of 5.1 innings after making his collegiate debut in relief in the season-opener at #10 TCU.
A LOOK AT MEMPHIS:
Memphis enters the weekend with an overall record of 3-3 and is coming off a series win over Kennesaw State this past weekend. The Tigers dropped the series opener before coming back to win the final two games of the series. Memphis dropped the season opening series to SIU-Edwardsville 2-1 in their only other action this season. Adam McClain leads the Tigers at the plate with a .417 average, while Derrick Thomas and Jacob Wilson lead the team with a home run and five RBI each. Micahael Wills, who is slated to start the game on the mound, has seen 0.2 innings of work this season and allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout in that time.
OLE MISS VS. MEMPHIS:
Ole Miss and Memphis have met 135 times with the Rebels holding an 88-47 lead in the all-time series. The two teams first met in 1916 with the Rebels winning both meetings 12-1 and 9-3.
LAST TIME OUT VS. MEMPHIS:
Ole Miss and Memphis split the season series last year with the home team claiming each contest. Ole Miss won the first meeting 4-2 in Oxford before the Tigers claimed the second meeting 9-2 at AutoZone Park.
