Wahl Named SEC Co-Pitcher Of The Week

OXFORD, Miss. - Sophomore right-hander Bobby Wahl was honored by the Southeastern Conference when he was named the SEC's Co-Pitcher of the Week in an announcement put out by the league office on Monday.
Wahl, who picked up his second win of the season on Friday night against UNC-Wilmington in only his third career start, shared the honor with Michael Roth of defending national champion South Carolina.
The right-handed hurler worked a career-long 7.0 inning and struck out a career-high nine batters in the series opener against the Seahawks on Friday night. He allowed only one hit in his time on the mound, holding UNC-Wilmington to a .043 batting average in the 2-0 victory.
The shutout win was the first for the Rebels since an 8-0 victory at Tennessee on March 27, 2011 in the series finale of that weekend showdown. Wahl also combined with Dylan Chavez and Brett Huber to limit UNC-Wilmington to two hits on the night, marking the fewest hits allowed by the Rebel pitching staff since holding Kentucky to two hits on March 19, 2010.
Ole Miss will return to action this week with five contests at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field as the Rebels continue a 13-game home stand. Ole Miss will face Memphis at 3 p.m. on Tuesday before hosting Jackson State at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The weekend series will feature a three-game set against Miami (Ohio), beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night and continuing with a 12:30 p.m. game on Saturday and a 1:30 p.m. game on Sunday.
Wednesday night's contest against Jackson State will be Fan Appreciation Day at Swayze Field. All fans will receive free admission to the contest. Ticket holders in the Diamond Club need only present a ticket to a previous game to gain admission to the club. Representatives from the ticket office will also have a list of ticket holders to help fans gain admission to the Diamond Club.
