BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the first time in three years, Ole Miss has an SEC Softball Player of the Week, as sophomore first baseman Londen Ladner picked up the honor Monday, the league announced.
A native of Brandon, Miss., Ladner totaled 12 hits, 11 RBI, three homers and three doubles as the Rebels collected five road wins last week. She had a .500 hitting clip and helped Ole Miss (13-9) improve to 2-0 in conference play with a pair of wins at Arkansas.
Two of Ladner's three home runs came against No. 10 Stanford at the Cardinal's own Louisville Slugger Classic. She had four hits, four RBI and two HRs in five at-bats against Stanford.
Ladner was instrumental in the two-game sweep at Arkansas with four hits, three RBI and two doubles in the doubleheader. She also drove in four runs in a matchup at Central Arkansas.
This marks the Rebels' first SEC weekly award winner since Lauren Grill on April 6, 2009.
Ole Miss returns to action Wednesday with the ninth of a 12-game road trip, traveling to Mississippi Valley State for a 4 p.m. CT encounter.
