Rebels Travel To No. 1 Crimson Tide

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel softball team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend for a three-game Southeastern Conference set with the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The Rebels and the Tide kick off the series Friday at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday's game is set for 5 p.m. and first pitch for Sunday's series finale is 1:30 p.m.

Saturday's game will also be televised nationally on ESPNU with Mark Neely handling the play-by-play duties and former Olympian Michelle Smith providing serving as color analyst.

Ole Miss (13-9, 2-0 SEC) is led by reigning SEC Player of the Week Londen Ladner, who totaled 12 hits, 11 RBI, three homers and three doubles as the Rebels collected five road wins last week. She had a .500 batting average and helped the Rebels to improve to 2-0 in conference play with a pair of wins at Arkansas. Two of Ladner's three home runs came against No. 10 Stanford's All-American pitcher Teagan Gerhart at the Cardinal's own Louisville Slugger Classic. She had four hits, four RBI and two HRs in five at-bats against Stanford.

Senior Kendall Bruning has paced Ole Miss in the circle with an 11-2 record and a 2.30 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 85.1 innings pitched. She ranks third in the SEC in innings pitched, fourth in wins, 10th in K's and 15th in ERA. She has also pitched 10 complete games on the season.

Alabama (22-0, 3-0 SEC) is currently ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 2 ESPN/USA Softball poll. The Tide are led at the plate at the plate by junior Courtney Conley, who leads the SEC with a .517 batting average. Sophomore Jackie Traina has posted a 13-0 record and a 1.01 ERA with 111 strikeouts in the circle.
