Rebels Welcome No. 8 Georgia To Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebels will welcome SEC foe Georgia to Oxford this weekend for a three-game series at the Ole Miss Softball Complex beginning on Friday. First pitch for Friday's series opener is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday's game is set for 2 p.m. and Sunday's series finale is set for 1 p.m.
The Rebels will host `80's Night' at the ballpark on Friday complete with 80's-themed music and trivia. The first 100 fans into the stadium will also receive a free Ole Miss fanny pack. Saturday is `Picnic In the Park Day' and fans are in encouraged to picnic in the left field seating area. Tailgate chairs will be given away every inning and one lucky fan will win a gas grill.
Admission to all Ole Miss softball games is free, and fans are encouraged to bring chairs and coolers for the outfield seating. Outside food or drink is not allowed inside the stadium area of the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Fans can also hear the game on Reb Sports Radio on 102.1 FM in Oxford, 101.3 FM in Grenada, 1240 AM in Jackson and online at RebSportsRadio.com. Live in-game stats will also be available on OleMissSports.com and RebelVision will provide live video.
Ole Miss (13-12, 2-3 SEC) posted a 5-6 mark during its 11-game road trip that included games at Central Arkansas, Arkansas, Stanford and Alabama. The Rebels dropped the opening game of the trip 6-5 at Central Arkansas, despite four RBI from first baseman Londen Ladner, who currently leads the team with five home runs. Senior Corrine Doornberg paces the squad with a .437 batting average, while senior Kendall Bruning has posted 11 wins and a team-best 3.30 ERA in the circle.
Georgia (24-5, 4-2 SEC) enters the weekend ranked No. 8 in the nation in the latest ESPN/USA Softball poll and No. 11 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches' poll. The Dogs are lead at the plate by senior Kristyn Sandberg, who boasts a .393 batting average and eight home runs. Junior transfer Tess Sito has posted a 6-0 mark with a 0.72 ERA in the circle, while senior Erin Arevalo has a 10-2 record with 101 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 32-7 over the Rebels including a three-game sweep in Athens a year ago.
