Senior Marcel Thiemann will be blogging throughout the 2012 season on all things Rebel tennis. Marcel is a two-time All-American and two-time All-SEC first team honoree from Lehrte, Germany.

Hey Rebel fans,

After coming off of a tough loss against Florida last Sunday, you can sense that the team is very disappointed. Everyone felt that we should have won that match especially with the great crowd we had. Yet, we have to give a lot of credit to Florida playing extremely well and bouncing back after their loss against Mississippi State.

However, we all know that the Florida match was just one match out of many more to come. We are still in the race for the SEC Championship and the SEC West. After having very close 4-3 losses a few weeks ago against two of the best teams in the nation, Georgia and Virginia, we proved to ourselves that we have the potential of being one of the best teams in the SEC and the nation. We know that we can compete with anyone. Having that in mind, it gives us the confidence we need to be able to achieve our goals in the strongest conference in the nation. The latest rankings show that there are currently 7 SEC teams in the Top 16.

Nik Scholtz, aka the `Shark' is doing an outstanding job of leading the team so far. The freshman is currently 10-2 at No. 1, 5-1 in the SEC. It is so important to have such a great player at the front of the lineup. We expected great things from him and he has absolutely met them so far. Freshman William Kallberg, who recently received a new nickname `Bill', proved that his win against the No. 3 player in the nation was an early predictor of his success on the team.

We have been working hard on the court and in the weight room this week to be ready for the next matches because the next couple of weeks will set the tone for how good we really are. The team made a pact to go undefeated the rest of the regular season and finish strong at the SEC tournament in April.

Looking forward to the upcoming weekend, we are hosting Arkansas on Friday and LSU on Sunday. LSU is coming to Oxford with a lot of confidence after almost upsetting Georgia last weekend. So I am calling on you Rebel fans to come out and support us like you did against Virginia and Florida, because the LSU and Arkansas matches are just as important. We really need every fan to cheer us on and to show our opponents that this is the toughest place to play. We invite you to come out and experience some of the best tennis in the nation this weekend. Admission is free and you can bring your own food and beverage. We promise that it will be worth your time. Be there and be loud!

Hotty Toddy and Go Rebs!!!
