OXFORD, Miss. - Ordinary people do extraordinary things every day and many believe those stories should be heard. That's why Community Trust Bank is teaming up with Ole Miss to recognize a local hero at each home football game during the 2012-13 season.

The Community Hero of the Week award gives the community an opportunity to nominate and recognize local heroes for their acts of selflessness or courage that had a profound impact on others making the community a better, safer place. To nominate a hero for the award, go to ctbheroes.com.

People are invited to share the story of their nominee, describing why their hero deserves a night in the spotlight. Each winner will be welcomed on-field by officials from Ole Miss and Community Trust Bank where they'll be recognized for their actions and receive a commemorative football. In addition, Community Trust Bank will donate $500 to a charity of the winner's choice.

"Ole Miss truly appreciates the support from Community Trust Bank in honoring these local heroes," said Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork. "Our community means so much to Ole Miss, and we relish any chance to show how everyone can do their part to impact the greater good."

"It's important to take the time to recognize people in the community who go about their daily lives acting is such an extraordinary way," said Larry Ratzlaff, Regional President, Community Trust Bank. "These individuals set an example for the rest of the community, and that's something you just can't help but honor. We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Ole Miss to recognize these heroes during this season's thrilling home football games."
