2012 Cross Country Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss first-year head coach Brian O'Neal announced the 2012 cross country schedule on Friday.

"I'm excited and definitely ready to get the season started with our cross country teams," O'Neal said. "I'm looking forward to having everyone on campus to see where our fitness levels are."

The Rebel men and women will gear up for the Southeastern Conference and NCAA Championships by competing in four different meets during September and October.

The 2012 campaign gets going Sept. 1 at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic, hosted by Christian Brothers University.

Ole Miss will take part in the Commodore Classic on Sept. 15 in Nashville, Tenn., which will also be the site of the Oct. 26 SEC Championships.

The Sept. 29 Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky., will also be the site of the Nov. 19 NCAA Championships.

Other meets include the Oct. 13 Crimson Classic (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) and the Nov. 9 NCAA South Regional (Tallahassee, Fla.).

Headlining the Ole Miss women's team in 2012 will be senior Katie Breathitt, who in 2011 along with Logan Waites (now graduated) became the first Rebel female to earn All-Region accolades. The Rebel men's team will feature some new faces at the top of the lineup after the departure of graduated senior Martin Kirui, who was an All-SEC and All-Region performer a year ago.

"Our goal at the end of the season will be to make sure the Rebel Nation is proud of us," O'Neal said.
