SEA ISLAND, Ga. - Sophomore Joe Lewis fired a 1-under par round of 69 on Saturday to lead Ole Miss in the second round of the SEC Championships at the Sea Island Country Club Seaside Course.
Lewis carded four birdies in the round including a three on the par four 18th to move into a tie for 13th heading into tomorrow's final round. The Rebels are currently tied for 12th with Tennessee with a two-round team total of 592.
"Joe Lewis had a good day," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "I think we will see more of this in his future. He made some adjustments after the round with his driving. The other guys can't seem to make on-course adjustments when their swing gets off. We are better than we are showing"
Freshman Forrest Gamble bounced back after three-straight bogeys to open the day with three birdies in the second round en route 4-over par 74 on Saturday. He is currently tied for 47th. Junior Tom Brown carded an 8-over 78 on day two after posting a 2-over 72 on Friday and is tied for 54th heading into Sunday. Sophomore Blake Morris shot a 6-over 76 and is tied for 64th with a two-round total of 154. Freshman Conner Davis is 70th with a two day total of 158 after shooting a 6-over 76 on Saturday.
South Carolina holds the second round lead at the SEC Championships with a 5-under 555 heading into tomorrow's third and final round.
