OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 37 nationally ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team, winners of five in a row, will hit the road this weekend to face No. 2 Florida and No. 29 South Carolina. The Rebels and Gators will meet at 4 p.m. CT, Friday at the Ring Tennis Complex.

The Rebels are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Southern Miss last Sunday, winning both matches 4-0. Prior to that, the team downed arch-rival Mississippi State 4-1 to win their 24th straight in the series.

"This is a tough road trip, beginning with playing in Gainesville," head coach Mark Beyers said. "They've won 120 something matches in a row, but we are definitely going to give it a shot and see if we can come up with a win and then do the same thing in Columbia on Sunday."

Florida swept LSU and Arkansas last weekend to improve to 15-2 overall and 8-1 in the SEC. The Gators are led by the nation's No. 1 ranked player, Lauren Embree, who sports a perfect 13-0 record at No. 1 singles, 8-0 in the SEC.

On Sunday, the Rebels will face the Gamecocks at 12:30 p.m. South Carolina defeated LSU and Arkansas last weekend to move to 11-8 overall and 4-5 in the SEC. The Gamecocks are led by Jaklin Alawi, who is ranked No. 87 in singles with a 5-10 record at No. 1.

Both matches will feature live scoring, which can be accessed by going to OleMissSports.com and clicking on the link in the calendar.
