Box Score

AUBURN, Ala. - Senior right-handed pitcher Erinn Jayjohn pitched a complete game at Auburn on Saturday evening at Jane B. Moore Field, but Ole Miss fell in a tight game to the Tigers 2-1.

Jayjohn finished the game with six innings of work, three strikeouts, one walk, seven hits and two runs allowed. Jayjohn's six innings were her most innings pitched since throwing a complete game (seven innings) against Southern Miss on Feb. 20, and it was her most innings in her last 12 appearances.

"Erinn provided an emotional boost for our team today and threw a real solid game," Ole Miss softball head coach Windy Thees said. "We just needed a few more clutch hits at the right times."

Defensively, junior catcher Marina Parra threw out a career-high four base runners attempting to steal, giving her 16 this season, the most in the SEC.

At the plate, junior first baseman Londen Ladner had two hits and one RBI, while senior left fielder Brittany Broome had one hit and one run, and freshman second baseman Melina Preciado recorded a single for the second consecutive game.

Auburn scored both of its runs in the bottom of the third on three hits to take a 2-0 lead.

Ole Miss cut its deficit in half with one run in the top of the sixth. Following a lead-off single, Broome stole second base, her 27th steal this season, tying the Ole Miss single season record. After a wild pitch advanced Broome to third, Ladner hit her 23rd RBI of the year on a single to shallow right field.

The Rebels could not tie the game in the seventh inning, though, and fell 2-1.

First pitch of Sunday's series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
