Nov. 17, 2014 OXFORD, Miss. - Kylan Becker, a standout outfielder from Miami, has signed a national letter of intent to play softball for the Rebels, Ole Miss head coach Mike Smith announced Monday. Becker is the first announced signee of the recruiting class as the Rebels will announce a member of the class each day until completion of the 10-man recruiting class.

A versatile athlete with a natural home in the outfield, Becker brings a tremendous amount of athleticism with her to the Rebels and will join the team to begin competition in the 2015-16 academic year.

"She is just a pure athlete," Smith said of Becker. "She's versatile and can play outfield or infield. I'm sure if we asked her to catch, she could do that as well. She's a pure athletic kid. She'll bring that gamer mentality and what I consider the x-factor. She's a kid who will run through a wall. When the game is on the line, she's about doing whatever it takes for the team to be successful. She plays for the Miami Stingrays which is a great program down in Florida. She's a good kid and can do it all. She has great speed and is a true triple threat at the plate."

Becker comes to the Rebels from Coral Reef Senior High School where she has lettered three years under head coach Dario Rodriguez. As a freshman, she was named the 2012 Outfielder of the Year.

She then displayed her versatility and athleticism in her sophomore season, earning selection as the Al-Dade Player of the Year at shortstop and was a runner-up for All-Dade Athlete of the Year. Becker hit .680 with 41 stolen bases and no strikeouts as she was named the Most Valuable Player of her team and Hitter of the Year. She also earned All-State first team honors.

Becker followed that up this past season as a junior with a second straight Hitter of the Year award as she hit .596 with seven home runs and 46 RBI for Coral Reef Senior High School.

She also earned two letters in varsity soccer.

In 2011, Becker was a U.S. first team track finalist in the 4x400 relay and finished fifth in hurdles. She also was a two-time national champion in gymnastics in 2002 and 2003.

With her club softball team, the Miami Stingrays, Becker helped her squad to a fourth place finish as a freshman playing with the 16U team. She then helped the squad to back-to-back seventh place finishes as a sophomore and junior with the 18U Gold teams.
