KAUAI, Hawaii - Senior Blake Morris and sophomore Ben Wolcott each fired an impressive 5-under par 67 to lead the Ole Miss men's golf team on day one of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.

Morris carded an eagle and five birdies, while Wolcott posted an eagle and four birdies in the first round of play. The duo is currently tied for seventh place.

"Ben is continuing his good play," Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy said. "He is certainly playing well enough to win each week. Blake is starting to find his groove. He is certainly going to help us as he gains confidence."

As a team, Ole Miss is in second place after posting a score of 15-under 273 in the first round. The Rebels are just one stroke behind tournament leader No. 11 Georgia Tech.

Sophomore Noah West, who carded five birdies in the first round, fired a 3-under 69 and is tied for 16th place. Junior Forrest Gamble is tied for 20th place after notching a 2-under 70 on day one.

"It was certainly a great day by our guys," Malloy said. "I have challenged this group to come out and play more aggressively early in their rounds, and I think they did that today. This group really finishes their rounds strong and that was no different today. We have a long way to go in this tournament, but I certainly like the start we got off to."

Junior Connor Davis shot even par in round one and is tied for 33rd place. Freshman Josh Seiple, who is competing as an individual, carded a 4-over 76.

The second round will begin tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time, 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. Fans can follow live scoring of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational by going to OleMissSports.com and clicking the link on the calendar.
