BLOG: Rebels To Compete Against Nation's Best

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - A pair of Ole Miss multi-eventers got the SEC Indoor Championships started for the Rebels on Thursday at the Gilliam Indoor Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.

In the women's pentathlon, senior Mary Ashton Nall recorded a personal-best score of 3,818 points to place 11th in a very competitive field of athletes. Seven of the 10 women that finished ahead of Nall rank top 20 in the nation.

The Auburn, Ala., native moves up to No. 3 in the school record books with her score of 3,818. Out of the five events on Thursday, she set indoor personal bests in three of them - the 60-meter hurdles (8.76), high jump (5-5.25) and long jump (17-11). Her 8.76 in the hurdles ranks her eighth in Ole Miss history.

Freshman Barclay Angle competed in the first four events of the men's heptathlon on Thursday, which included the 60 meters, long jump, shot put and high jump. He is in 12th place with three events to go on Friday. They are the 60-meter hurdles, 1,000 meters, and Angle's specialty, the pole vault.

The top eight finishers in each event at the SEC Indoor Championships score points for their team.

Friday will be a big day for the No. 20-ranked Ole Miss men and the Rebel women. Preliminary rounds of many events will take place, as well as championship finals in the men's and women's long jump, men's weight throw and men's and women's 3,000 meters, among others.
