OXFORD, Miss. - On an overcast Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex with rain clouds letting down showers periodically, Ole Miss couldn't cool down the LSU bats and dropped its home finale 13-4 (5) to the No. 24 ranked Tigers.

"We have to come out this week and practice hard because we still have three games left," Ole Miss assistant coach Julie Meyer said. "The season's not over, and just because of a loss like today where we had a little bit of adversity with the weather - and sort of the whole day dealing with that - we have to push through that. We can still play a spoiler role at Tennessee next week. It was Senior Weekend here, but we still have three full games left to give everything we have and for next year's team to build off of what we do next weekend."

Senior designated player Natalie Nimmo batted in two runs on the afternoon, while redshirt freshman second baseman Alyssa Invergo went 2-3 with an RBI. Senior first baseman Londen Ladner went 1-3 with two runs scored.

After LSU (31-20, 11-10 Southeastern Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Ole Miss (22-28, 3-18 SEC) came back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs on two hits to take a 3-1 lead. Invergo got things started with an RBI single to left field to score sophomore shortstop Haley Culley. Nimmo then grounded a fielder's choice to score junior third baseman Allison Brown, and Ladner capped off the scoring in the inning by coming home on an LSU passed ball.

The Tigers retook the lead in the top of the second. After scoring three runs on one hit and one Ole Miss error, the game was delayed for 30 minutes due to lightning. When play resumed, the Tigers scored eight more runs to claim an 11-3 lead.

Nimmo brought in her second run of the game in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Ladner.

LSU would close out the scoring by tacking on one run in the fourth and fifth innings to win the game 13-4.

Ole Miss will close out its regular season schedule with a three-game series at No. 8 Tennessee beginning Friday at 5 p.m. CT. Game two will begin Saturday at 1 p.m., and game three is scheduled for Sunday at noon and will be televised by Fox Sports Network.
