OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss Volleyball freshman Lexi Thompson (Riverview, Florida) has been named the Magnolia Invitational Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Rebels to a program best 10-0 start with wins over UAB, Mercer and Jacksonville State this weekend.

Thompson was joined on the All-Tournament Team by junior middle blocker Ty Laporte and setter Aubrey Edie. This is the first honor for Thompson, while Edie earned her third consecutive all-tournament team honor and Laporte her second straight.

For the weekend, Thompson tallied 28 kills, 30 digs, 5 blocks and hit .354. She averaged 2.80 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set. In the win over Jacksonville State, Thompson posted career-highs in kills (18) and digs (17).

Thompson talked about the Rebels' fast start after the Rebels captured their third straight tournament title.

"I expected a change, but I didn't expect this big of a change," Thompson said. "I knew that we would do better, and I was excited to see what we would do with a new coach, and we're going well beyond any expectations."

Laporte finished the tournament with 28 kills and 9 blocks and hit .375. Edie posted 122 assists 12.2 per set.

Ole Miss is back in action Sept. 18-20 hosting the Rebel Classic. The Rebels will face Louisiana Tech in the first match, Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
