OXFORD, Miss. - Following an outstanding performance to help lead the Ole Miss Volleyball team to the Buffalo Classic title last weekend, senior Cara Fisher was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
The Manvel, Texas native, paved the way for setter Aubrey Edie, right side hitter Melanie Crow and middle blocker Nakeyta Clair to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the Buffalo Classic, as the Rebels captured their first tournament title away from Oxford since 2007 and started the year 4-0 for the first time since 2007.
Fisher only had four receiving errors in four matches, including none against Lehigh and Buffalo. She finished with double-digit digs in all four matches, including a career-high 20 in the championship match against Buffalo.
The Rebels are back in action this weekend at the Memphis Invitational. The team's first match is Friday against Memphis at 7 p.m.
