OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, Monday for its third tournament of the season to compete in the 2014 Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by professional golfer Graeme McDowell.
The two-day tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,234-yard course at the Shoal Creek Golf and Country Club and features a 12-team field that includes host team No. 19 UAB, No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 UCF, North Flordia, Southeastern Louisiana, Memphis, Samford, Georgia Southern, Mississippi State, No. 35 Liberty, Georgetown and Ole Miss.
At last year's tournament, senior Blake Morris claimed Ole Miss' first individual title since 2010, firing a three-round total of 8-under par and helped lead the Rebels to a season-best third-place finish.
"We are very excited to get back into tournament competition," Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy said. "This is a course that we are familiar with and some of the guys have had some success here in the past. Blake won this event last year, so I look for us to play well."
The Ole Miss lineup will consist of sophomore Ben Wolcott, Morris, senior Joe Lewis, freshman Josh Seiple and sophomore Noah West.
Wolcott, a native of Dickson, Tennessee, has placed in the top-20 in both tournaments this season, including a career-best tournament score of 213 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate Sept. 8-9.
The Rebels will begin teeing off at 8:30 a.m. and will be paired with players from Liberty and Georgetown.
