Rebels Shine on Day One of Shoal Creek Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - All five members of the Ole Miss men's golf team finished in the top 25 individually to propel the Rebels on day one of the 2014 Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by professional golfer Graeme McDowell.
Senior Joe Lewis fired an impressive 2-under par 70 in the second round, posting four birdies en route to a 10th place finish on day one. Senior Blake Morris, who won last year's Shoal Creek Invitational, and sophomore Noah West each carded two-round scores of 2-over 146 and are tied for 19th place.
"We have five guys that are playing very well right now," head coach Chris Malloy said. "We just need to eliminate the silly mistakes, and we will have a great round. I know that we are close. Joe really saved us this afternoon and gave us a chance to win this thing tomorrow."
As a team, Ole Miss carded a two-round score of 2-over 578 and is tied for fourth place with Memphis. The Rebels have an opportunity to move up during tomorrow's third and final round. No. 1 Alabama sits atop the leader board after day one, posting a two-round score of 10-under 566.
Sophomore Ben Wolcott and freshman Josh Seiple are tied for 22nd place, each posting a two-round score of 3-over 147.
The third round will tee off tomorrow morning beginning at 7:39 a.m. The Rebels will be paired with Memphis and Central Florida.
