No. 17 Rifle Kicks off Spring at Home

OXFORD, Miss. -- After a month long semester break, the No. 17 ranked Ole Miss rifle team kicks off the spring part of their season this weekend hosting No. 6 Kentucky and No. 16 NC State at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.
Admission is free and action begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
"We are looking forward to starting this part of the season," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "Everyone has come back refreshed from the break and working harder than ever. Both teams will be tough opponents, but we welcome the challenge and opportunity."
Rebel Leaders ...
Sophomore Alison Weisz (Belgrade, Montana) leads the Rebels with an average aggregate of 1153, including 585 in Air Rifle. In the Rebels last tournament, Weisz posted a season-high 593 in air rifle, one off her career-high of 594 set last year.
Scouting Kentucky ...
Kentucky comes into the weekend with a 7-1 record. Their lone loss came against No. 2 Alaska-Fairbanks. The Wildcats closed out 2014 with a 4676-4669 victory over then No. 5 Nebraska. Kentucky is led by junior two-time All-American Connor Davis, who won the NCAA Individual air rifle national title last year.
Scouting NC State ...
NC State lost to No. 1 West Virginia 4714-4586 in their last action before the break. The Wolfpack are at No. 9 Memphis on Saturday before coming to Oxford. They are led by sophomore Lucas Kozeniesky, who owns an average aggregate of 1162, including 587 in air rifle.
