Rebels Drop Road Contest at A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- In their second straight weekend of split home/away matches, the Ole Miss volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Texas A&M (13-25, 20-25, 13-25) here Sunday at Reed Arena to finish the weekend 1-1.

The Rebels fall to 15-4 overall and 1-3 in the SEC, while Texas A&M improves to 9-5 and 2-1 in conference play.

With the score tied at 5 early in the first set, the Aggies began a run of four straight points to go up 9-5. The Rebels never could get their footing in the set as A&M closed it out 25-13. Gibson had six of her 12 kills in the set, but that was it for the Rebels, who hit just .105 to A&M's .500.

The Aggies maintained control of the match in the second set and put the Rebels behind 7-3 early. The Rebels never got closer than three the rest of the way, falling 25-20, as A&M took a 2-0 lead in the match.

A&M started the third set 7-2 and once again never let the Rebels get into, going on to take it 25-13 for the 3-0 win.

• The Rebels hit below .200 (.064) for just the third time this year and are 0-3 when doing so.
• Sophomore Kate Gibson finished with 12 kills and five digs to lead the Rebels.
• Senior Nakeyta Clair hit below .300 for just the second time all year, finishing with six kills on a .000 clip.
• The Aggies will travel to Oxford Nov. 13 for the second meeting between the two teams.

The Rebels return to action Friday at 6:30 p.m., when they host Georgia at the Gillom Sports Center to kick off homecoming weekend at Ole Miss.
