Thornberry Goes Low on Day Two in Hawaii

PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii â€" Freshman Braden Thornberry fired a 3-under par 69 Tuesday to shoot up the leaderboard on day two at the Warrior Princeville Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.
The Southaven, Mississippi carded five birdies against only two bogeys in the second round at the 7,223-yard Makai Golf Club and climbed into a tie for 21st overall after starting the day in a tie for 33rd. As a team, Ole Miss remained in a tie for ninth after a second-round total of 283.
"It was certainly a step in the right direction for us today," said Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy. "We were close to putting together a very good round. Braden is starting to gain some confidence and lead this team. Hopefully, we can end our fall season on a high note."
Junior Noah West, who posted a 1-over 73 Monday, went under par with a 1-under 71 in the second round and is tied for 30th at even par. Junior Ben Wolcott carded his second-straight even-par 72 and is also in a tie for 30th with a two-day total of 144. Senior Forrest Gamble bounced back after a tough opening round, with a 1-under 71 and is tied for 49th with a two-round total of 147. Senior Connor Davis posted an even-par 72 in the second round and is also in a tie for 49th. Freshman Beau Briggs, who is competing as an individual, carded a second round score of 1-over 73.
