Edie Named Academic All-District

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss volleyball junior Aubrey Edie (Fayetteville, Arkansas) has helped position the Rebels for their second consecutive 20-win campaign and a chance to finish in the top half of the SEC standings. Thursday, she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 First Team for the second year in a row.
As a member of the All-District First Team, Edie is eligible for Academic All-America honors. Edie is one of four SEC players to earn Academic All-District honors.
"We are very proud of Aubrey," head coach Steven McRoberts said. "She is a great ambassador for our program. She gets the job done both on and off the court. I am thankful that Aubrey is once again getting recognized for such a prestigious honor."
Edie boasts as 3.96 in Elementary Education. She has helped lead the Rebels to a 19-7 overall record, 5-6 in the SEC and one win out of fifth place in the league. Earlier this year, Edie became the second player in school history to record 3,000 career assists. She ranks eighth in the SEC with 10.28 assists per set. Directing the offensive attack, Edie has paved the way for the Rebels to have two players in the top seven in the SEC and top 50 in the nation in hitting percentage.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must hold a 3.3 grade point average or higher and must be in their second year at the nominating institution. Student-athletes must also have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the time of nomination.
Ole Miss welcomes Arkansas Friday for a 6:30 p.m., rematch. The Rebels defeated the Razorbacks 3-2 in Fayetteville last month.
