Ole Miss Football Postgame Quotes

Ole Miss vs. Arkansas

Vaught-Hemingway Stadium â€" Oxford, Miss.

Nov. 7 2015

Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze

Opening Statement…

"It is an extremely difficult way to end the game. I hurt for our kids, for our coaches, our fans and our administration. You put so much into this deal and then you lose a game like tonight that comes down to the wire. It is very difficult and gut wrenching. It will test everything about you."

On Arkansas' offense…

"Our plan was obviously not very good. Their quarterback played at an extremely high level. We struggled in every one on one situation we had. I thought we controlled their run game pretty well. They are a solid run team. The number of big plays that we gave up was very disheartening. They all rose up at the end to get it done, then the craziness occurred. We obviously just did not play very well. We had a good plan offensively, and we just didn't get nearly enough possessions or snaps. Arkansas controlled a large portion of the game for sure. I'm sure anytime you don't play well it is partly the plan and partly the execution of the calls. We will have to go back and evaluate."

On Arkansas going for the two-point conversion…

"No, because they couldn't stop us. They were struggling to stop us also. I haven't seen the film yet, but there was a facemask call that seemed like it was the right call. It was a very difficult way to end the game. It doesn't surprise me, though."

#10, Chad Kelly, QB

On the game tonight …

"It's tough. Everybody played tough. Offense, defense, and special teams. Sometimes, it just doesn't go your way. But you have to make sure you rebound. We're going into this bye week to get refocused and get ready to play LSU."

On the offense executing…

"You just have to go out and execute. You really don't think about all that. You know you are going to be in a show. Not only that, they are going to control the ball. You have to take advantage of your opportunities when you get the ball."

On the performance of his teammates…

"I think all the receivers did a great job. The line did a good job of blocking and making the right calls up front. It's just tough. It's tough when you lose like that, but we have to rebound."

On running the ball more tonight…

"I don't think so. You go in thinking you have to go execute the game plan. But if a hole opens up, you have to take off and run if it's there."

On what the leadership of the team needs to do going forward…

"We need to keep everyone together and stay focused. We're one big family, we love each other, and we're in this together. We've worked so hard since the end of last season, and right now, we can't let that define our season. There are a couple of more games left, so we just need to stick together as a family."

On the 4th and 25 conversion…

"I watched it and couldn't believe it. Sometimes, the ball doesn't bounce your way. It sums up our season right now, but it is all good. We'll rebound and bounce back. We'll keep fighting and never give up."

Arkansas Head Coach Bret Bielema

On the game…

"We told our guys it would take all 70 of them to come over here and play a 60 minute game. If we had to play a little bit longer we would, but I know our guys came here prepared to win. They decided in their hearts they weren't leaving without the win"

On Brandon Allen…

"I can't say enough about our quarterback, he is an example of a gladiator, he made some adjusted throws and he was accurate all day long."

On the two point conversion…

"When we scored with 53 seconds in the fourth quarter I wanted to go for it, but I didn't want to put that on our guys line before that series. I said before we started overtime, be prepared to go for the two point conversion. During the long delay I told the players if we make this touchdown, stay on the field and go for it."

On the 4th and 25 conversion…

"It was crazy, just the momentum swing going from watching the play and everything happen. The guy had him wrapped up pretty good and knowing he wasn't going to break the tackle, I think the game's over. Next thing I know, I see the ball flying through the sky. My first thought was let's try to make something happen out of this. I just ran for my life out there to try to get the first down. If I put myself in his position, I wouldn't have thought to throw the ball back."

On what went through his head during the play…

"First, I was looking over watching the play and kind of put my head down because I saw him get wrapped up thinking the play was over and we just lost the game. Next thing I know, I see the ball flying through the air. I try to put myself in a position to get it, but I have all these big, tall defensive and offensive linemen around me hoping I'm about to get the ball. The ball rolled in front of me so I just picked it up and ran.

On the win…

"It feels good to get a win on the road. It was a hard fought game and they're a really good team. It went blow for blow. They hit us; we hit them. We just tried to keep going and keep fighting and we persevered and made it through.
