JACKSON, Miss.
- The Ole Miss women's basketball team spread some holiday cheer at Batson Children's Hospital on Friday afternoon. The Rebels made the stop as they headed to Hattiesburg, Miss., to take on Southern Miss on Saturday.

Batson, which is a part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, is the only hospital in the state dedicated to the care and treatment of sick and injured children and adolescents.

During their visit with the children and staff at Batson, the women's basketball team split up into groups and played with patients in several playrooms throughout the hospital. The Ole Miss players and coaches played video games, read books and went room to room visiting with patients during the hour long visit. The Rebels came bearing gifts as they brought custom designed Ole Miss/Batson T-shirts.

"This is something we've been trying to do for quite awhile," said Ole Miss head coach Matt Insell. "We're very fortunate to be able to come and spend some time with the kids and staff here at Batson today. Spending time with them was just as beneficial to our team and staff as it was to the staff and patients at Batson and we look forward to coming back."

Junior Bretta Hart (Poplarville, Miss.) had a great time spending time with the kids and spent time playing with two of the littlest patients in two little babies.

"We have been wanting to come here and play with the kids for a long time" said Hart. "It's really a blessing to be able to spend time with them and honestly does just as much for us as it does for them. We're looking forward to coming back soon."
