Ole Miss takes its four-game wining streak on the road with a road trip to take on Southern Miss on Saturday. The Lady Eagles and Rebels will tip off at 4 p.m. from Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg. Starting Five
1. Ole Miss made it four straight wins with a 80-45 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon. Shandricka Sessom posted a career-high 28 points in the win and grabbed her third career game of 20 or more points. Jonell Williams led the Rebels on the glass with six rebounds - her third time leading the team on the glass.
2. Madinah Muhammad picked up her third career game in double figures with 10 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Chicago, Ill., native has started each of the last five games and her three games in double-figures are the most for an Ole Miss freshman this season.
3. Shandricka Sessom set a new career mark for three-point field goals with six in the win over Arkansas- Pine Bluff. Her previous career-high was three set on two occasions. She joins teammate Torri Lewis as Rebels to post five or more three-pointers this season. Sessom was two threes shy of tying the Tad Smith Coliseum record set by Gracie Frizzell in 2014-15.
4. Saturday's meeting will be the second straight season the Rebels and Lady Eagles have met on the hardwood. Ole Miss leads the series 17-4 and will be making its first trip to Hattiesburg since the 1999-2000 season. Ole Miss has won the last five meetings between the teams.
5. Ole Miss is getting production from all of its players. Each of Ole Miss' players is averaging at least 1.8 points per game and 10 of the 12 active players are averaging at least 4.0 points per game. On the rebounding front six players are averaging at least 4.0 rebounds per game.
Ole Miss vs. Southern Miss Notables
-Ole Miss and Southern will be playing for the second consecutive season and the Rebels will be making their first trip to Hattiesburg since the 1999-2000 season. The Rebels have won the last five meetings and lead the series, 7-1, on the Lady Eagles home floor.
-This will be somewhat of a homecoming for Ole Miss junior Bretta Hart, who hails from Poplarville, Miss, which is just 45 minutes south of Hattiesburg.
-These teams traditionally play very close games. The last four meetings between the squads have been decided by two points each game. In total, seven of the last eight meetings have been decided by two points each. The last meeting decided by more than 10 points was the meeting in 1998-99.
-In an Ole Miss football connection, Southern Miss great, Derrick Nix the current Ole Miss running backs coach, played his collegiate football at Southern Miss. He is married to the former Alison Story who played forward for the Southern Miss women's basketball team.
A Win Would
-Give Ole Miss its fifth straight win and its sixth straight win in the series against Southern Miss. Ole Miss would move to 18-4 in the series and it would be it's second win over a C-USA squad after defeating Western Kentucky last week.
-Move the Rebels 10 wins way from the 800th victory in program history. Ole Miss' current record is 789-475. The earliest Ole Miss could hit the 800th win would be on Jan. 21 against Kentucky and they would become the sixth SEC program to record 800 wins.
Rebels By The Numbers
5- Number of games freshman Madinah Muhammad has started. Muhammad, out of Chicago, Ill., is the only Ole Miss freshman to start more than one game this season and the only to start consecutive games. She is averaging 6.6 points in games started and is Ole Miss' third leading scorer with 7.5 points per game.
6- Number of three-point FGs and assists Shandricka Sessom had against Arkansas-Pine Bluff - both new career highs. Sessom's six three-pointers tie teammate Torri Lewis as the most for a Rebel this season and was just two shy of the Tad Smith Coliseum record.
8- Number of consecutive games Ole Miss leading scorer Shandricka Sessom has scored in double figures his season, a number that increases to nine if you go back to last season. Sessom is averaging 18.8 points per game and is the SEC's leading scorer.
9- Number of turnovers Ole Miss had against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. It was just the second time this season Ole Miss has posted single digit turnovers, also hitting the mark against Missouri State. Ole Miss is 1-1 in games when they have single-digit turnovers.
28- Number of points Shandricka Sessom scored in a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. It was Sessom's second career game of 20+ this season and her third career game of 20+. The 28 points was a new career-high, breaking her previous mark of 24 by four points.
Tad Pad Countdown
5- Ole Miss will play five more games at the historic Tad Smith Coliseum before moving into the brand new Pavilion at Ole Miss. The opening weekend of the Pavilion will be Jan. 7-10 . Ole Miss will play its first game in its new home on Jan. 10 vs. Florida.
Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss enters Saturday's game with a 5-2 record and winners of their last four games after a 71-21 win over South Alabama on Sunday. Jayla King leads the offense with 11.6 points per game. Teammates Jerontay Clemons and Caitlin Jenkins Brittany Dinkins and Keri Jewett-Giles are also in double figures for the Eagles. Jenkins leads the way on the glass with 8.2 rebounds per game. As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 60.3 points per game and pulling down 37.3 rebounds per game. The Lady Eagles will also play Mississippi State and power five foe, North Carolina in non-conference action.
About Ole Miss
Sophomore Shandricka Sessom continues to lead the Ole Miss offense with 18.8 points per game and has reached double figures in each game this season and in nine consecutive games dating back to last season. Her 18.8 points currently leads the SEC. Erika Sisk joins Sessom in double figures with 10.8 points per game, while Madinah Muhammad and Shequila Joseph are nearing double digits with 7.5 and 7.3 points per game, respectively. Bretta Hart leads the rebounding efforts with 8.8 rebounds per game, while rookie Jonell Williams is contributing 6.5 boards per game and Sessom is contributing 5.6 boards per game. As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 78.1 points per game and grabbing 47.4 rebounds per game.
