OXFORD, Miss. - After two weeks on the road, the No. 24 ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team returned home for a pair of weekend matches beginning with Tulane Friday. The Green Wave came into the match undefeated, but they were no match for the Rebels, who dominated 6-1 at the Gillom Sports Center.

With the win, the Rebels equaled their best start since 2010 when they started 7-1. They will host William & Mary Sunday at Noon at the Gillom Sports Center.

Ole Miss came out of the gates in doubles winning easily at two and three doubles to secure the opening point. Julia Jones and Natalie Suk won 6-0 and then Mai El Kamash and Arianne Hartono won 6-1 to clinch the point.

Jones, who rose to No. 7 in the nation in singles this week, didn't drop a single game on the day, as she put up a bagel in both sets against Tulane's Nicky Stracar to improve to 8-0 at No. 1 and 18-3 overall. She also won her 91st career match.

"From one to six and in doubles, I thought we played really strong," Jones said. "They (Tulane) have a solid team and this was their chance to play a ranked team. We knew they would come in ready to play, but we just took care of business."

Jones also talked about her rise in the rankings and said she doesn't feel any added pressure to win.

"I am super excited," she said with a big smile on her face. "I just tried to come out and have fun today. I know at the No. 1 spot anyone can win, so I just have to come out ready to play every match."

Hartono, who is ranked No. 40 now, handed Ipek Birol who her first dual match singles loss, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to make it 3-0.

El Kamash, who returned to the rankings at No. 83, sealed the win with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Tulane's Vanessa Nommensen at No. 3 singles.

"We jumped out to some quick leads at a couple of spots in doubles and never let them back into the matches," head coach Mark Beyers said. "We did the same thing at the top of the lineup in singles. We played well overall, never really gave them any hope."

Suk and senior Erin Stephens added wins at four and five singles, respectively, to close out the scoring for the Rebels.
