Trio Named To All-Tournament Team

CONWAY, S.C. - A trio of players earned recognition for their performance at the Battle at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina this weekend with Elantra Cox, Bri Payne and Miranda Strother all taking All-Tournament honors.
The trio of outfielders helped the Rebels to a 3-1 weekend with a split against Iowa State and wins over St. Bonaventure and host Coastal Carolina.
Cox hit .571 for the weekend with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI while going 2-for-4 on steal attempts. She turned in a .643 slugging percentage and .600 on base percentage to create constant pressure at the top of the order. She also was perfect in the field without committing an error on the weekend.
Payne sparked the Rebel offense in day two of the event with a career-high six RBI against Iowa State to tie the school record for RBI in a game. She hit .556 for the weekend with two runs scored, eight RBI and a home run - a grand slam to break things open against the Cyclones in the first inning.
Strother led the Rebels at the plate in hitting, batting at a .583 clip with five runs scored and an RBI on the weekend. The sophomore belted out a double and posted a .667 slugging percentage with a .643 on base percentage while going 2-for-2 in steal attempts.
Ole Miss will return to action this weekend, coming home to host the Red and Blue Classic at the Ole Miss Softball Complex beginning on Friday.
