Rebels Take Home Third-Place Finish

MOBILE, Ala. - Led by season-best performances from Blake Morris and Ben Wolcott, the Ole Miss men's golf team earned a third-place finishat the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate Tuesday hosted by the University of South Alabama.



Morris finished in a tie for fourth place, marking his second top-10 tournament finish in a row. The senior fired a three-round score of 1-under 215. Wolcott, who led the Rebels with a 1-under par 70 in the third round, tied for ninth place. The Dickson, Tennessee, native posted a tournament score of 76-71-70--217.



"Blake had his second good tournament in a row," Ole Miss head coach Chris Malloy said. "This is just the beginning of a great spring for him. Ben had another good outing and has continued his consistent play from the fall. He has shown up and competed every tournament this year for us."



As a team, Ole Miss finished in third place with a three-round score of 10-over 874. No. 20 Auburn took home the tournament title with a score of 3-under 861.



"Although we didn't win today, I am extremely happy with the way the guys fought the past two days. Ultimately, it was too many sloppy mistakes that cost us the tournament. This group is getting better by the day, and I am excited to get down to our next event and compete against an extremely tough field."



Junior Forrest Gamble finished in a tie for 21st place, carding a three round score of 73-75-74--222. Sophomore Noah West firedan 8-over 224 and tied for 26th place. Freshman Josh Seiple posted a 2-over par 74 in the third round, tying for 36th place.



In the individual tournament at the Magnolia Grove Falls course, senior Joe Lewis finished in third place with a three-round score of 5-over 218. Juniors Connor Davis took home a ninth-place finish, while Chris Ingham finished in 11th place.



Next up, the Rebels will head south of the border for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The first round tees of March 1st.
