OXFORD, Miss. -- As their season draws to a close, the No. 17 ranked Ole Miss rifle team prepares to host the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships this weekend (Feb. 27-March 1). The action begins at 9 a.m., on Friday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.

Fans coming to Saturday's action, will enjoy free coffee and breakfast from Chick-fil-A.

This will be the Rebels' 11th consecutive year to host the GARC Championships. Last year, the Rebels finished sixth overall, with West Virginia claiming the title. Kentucky took second and Nebraska finished third.

"We can hardly wait for the weekend," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "We love being the host to such a great field of teams. Our team is ready to put it all on the line and close out the season."

Ole Miss, Kentucky, Army, Memphis, Navy, NC State, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Akron will compete in this year's championship. Akron participated in the 2014 GARC Championships, but did not become an official member of the conference until this year.

The GARC is a conference made up of schools that have varsity rifle sponsored at their Universities but not by their Universities' respective conferences. All nine teams in the conference are ranked inside the CRCA top 20 rankings, including 2014 GARC Champion, West Virginia at No. 1.

Sophomore Alison Weisz, who recently set the school record in smallbore with a 589 at the Withrow Invitational, has led the Rebels throughout the regular season along with freshman Jessica Haig. Haig recently shot a career-high in smallbore as well as air rifle.
