Ole Miss Wraps Up Play at Clover Cup

MESA, Ariz. - The Ole Miss women's golf team finished play at the Notre Dame Clover Cup in Arizona Sunday, led by senior Stani Schiavone (Bangor, Pa.) and sophomore Madisen Bentley (University Place, Wash.).
Both Schiavone and Bentley played as individuals in the tournament and both finished tied for 18th after rounds of 5-over par 77 and 3-over par 75, respectively. Schiavone finished her round on a strong note posting par or better on her final 11 holes.
Bentley's 75 is her career low as an Ole Miss Rebel, and head coach Michele Drinkard is excited about both Bentley and Schiavone's improvements as of late.
"Madisen was our most consistent player this week and finished strong today," Drinkard said. "She can really play and it was good to see her confidence increase this tournament."
"Stani also struck the ball much better this weekend which was an issue in Miami. Another solid week of practice and playing, and I believe she will be a lot more consistent as well," Drinkard said.
Leading the way in the team standings for Ole Miss were senior Taelor Rubin (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Alison Hovatter (Meridianville, Ala.) who both fired a 6-over par 78 on the day.
Ole Miss posted a final round team score of 317, finishing the Clover Cup in 14th place with a final three-day total of 954.
"Attitude and how you respond means everything and this team has responded everyday with a good mindset and a grind mentality," Drinkard said. "Now we just need to see some results pay off for us and keep reminding ourselves to stay positive."
Drinkard looks forward to her team getting back home to get some solid practice rounds in before their next tournament.
The Rebels are back in action next weekend when they head to Hoover, Alabama for the Samford Intercollegiate before returning home for the 2015 Rebel Intercollegiate April 3-5.
