Box Score

OXFORD, Miss. - It was a power game on Sunday in game two of the series with 9-of-10 runs scored in the game coming off home runs as Ole Miss (15-10, 0-5 SEC) fell to No. 12 Auburn (28-2, 2-0 SEC) by a score of 7-3.

Madi Osias and Miranda Strother both hit home runs, a two-run shot from the sophomore Strother and a solo shot from Osias, to cut the Rebel lead to two in the sixth inning as a part of a Rebel rally. It was the second home run of the season for Strother and fifth of the season for Osias.

Lauren Lindsey (4-3) took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs on seven hits through 3.0 innings of work. Osias closed out the final 4.0 innings, striking out seven batters and walking three while allowing two runs on three hits.

Lexi Davis (12-0) picked up the win for Auburn, allowing three runs on eight hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Rachel Walters picked up her second save of the season, working the final 2.0 innings and striking out two batters as she entered the game to get a pop out and a double play to end the Rebels' rally in the sixth inning.

"I thought we competed today," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Smith. "Their pitcher did a great job of mixing things up to keep us off balance. We got to her in the sixth inning and that's a good thing. We had some good swings, but took too many good pitches. Hopefully today's performance will carry over into tomorrow. We talk about our process and getting one percent better every day, learning from our mistakes and learning from the things we're doing well."

Auburn jumped out to a 2-0 lead with solo shots from Jade Rhoads and Emily Carosone in the second and third innings, respectively. A three-run shot from Carlee Wallace in the fourth inning added to the lead and put the score at 5-0 in favor of the Tigers.

Ole Miss went to work in the sixth inning, getting a bunt single from Allison Brown to open the inning before Strother would belt her two-run shot to left field. In the next at bat, Osias hit her solo shot to left center to cut the lead to 5-3.

A walk of Alex Schneider and a single up the middle from Courtney Syrett in the subsequent at bats put two more on base and sent Auburn to the bullpen for Walters. Walters then got a pop out and a line drive for a double play to end the rally.

Auburn then got a fourth home run of the afternoon from Kasey Cooper to open the seventh inning. A single, an intentional walk and an RBI single from Morgan Estell took the lead out to 7-3 for the Tigers. The Rebels would get out of the inning. , but the four-run lead would hold for the final margin of victory.

Ole Miss and Auburn will close out the series at 6 p.m. on Monday evening in a contest broadcast by the SEC Network as the SEC Game of the Week.
