No. 17 Rebels Ready for Weekend Matches

OXFORD, Miss. - After playing their last four SEC matches at home, the No. 17 Ole Miss women's tennis team is on the road this weekend for two matches, starting with a big one at No. 2 Florida.

Ole Miss will square off against the Gators on Friday at 4 p.m. CT at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex. The Rebels will then travel to Columbia to take on the No. 43 South Carolina Gamecocks Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.

"Obviously Florida is one of the top programs in the country," head coach Mark Beyers said. "We had a really close match with them last year at our place, and we've shown this year that we can compete with anybody when we play well. We are looking forward to the opportunity."

Last Time Out ...
The Rebels split the past weekend, dropping a close one to Alabama, 4-1 and beating Auburn 4-3. Freshman Arianne Hartono, ranked No. 50 in the nation shut out 54th-ranked Danielle Spielmann to put the Rebels on the board. The Rebels responded with a gritty 4-3 win against Auburn. Sophomore Zalina Khairudinova clinched the match at No. 6 singles, to improve to 6-0 there. Senior Julia Jones, ranked No. 12 in the nation, picked up her 95th career win.

Scouting Florida ...
The Gators are coming off shut out at Missouri, 7-0 on March 15. Florida (13-1, 5-0) has won eight straight matches and remains undefeated in SEC action. The Gators are led by three players in the top 20: No. 5 Brooke Austin, No. 6 Josie Kuhlman and No. 20 Brianna Morgan. Belinda Woolcock is ranked No. 32 and Kourtney Keegan is ranked No. 38. The Gators also boast the No. 4 ranked double team in Austin and Keegan.

Scouting South Carolina ...
The Gamecocks are coming off a tough 4-3 loss to No. 44 Arkansas to fall to 9-6 overall and 2-4 in SEC play. The Gamecocks are led by doubles partners, senior Meghan Blevins and sophomore Brigit Folland. The pair has 22 wins on the season.

The 100 Watch ...
At 95 wins on the season, senior Julia Jones only needs five more wins to join the elite 100-club. Jones would be the fifth player in program history to reach this milestone.

National Rankings ...
The Rebels are ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA National Rankings. In the singles rankings, senior Julia Jones is ranked No. 12, freshman Arianne Hartono is ranked No. 50 and junior Mai El Kamash is ranked No. 100.
