Last Time Out ...
The Rebels won the doubles point with a tiebreaker at No. 1, and then picked up a straight set win from freshman Arianne Hartono at No. 2 singles and two huge three-setters from senior Julia Jones at No. 1 and junior Mai El Kamash at No. 3 to clinch their first SEC win of the season.
Coach Talk ...
"It was very close for a long time, but the difference was getting the tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles and the three-setters from Julia and Mai," head coach Mark Beyers said. "If we don't get those, then we have another 4-3 match. Arkansas is a really good team, and today we were able to win some of the close matches. Being able to win those close sets and close matches is a positive, because that is what we are going to have to do the entire year."
Scouting Missouri ...
Missouri dropped a 6-2 contest to No. 50 Arkansas during their SEC opener and then lost 4-0 at Mississippi State Friday. The Tigers are now 8-6 on the season and 0-2 in SEC play. They are lead by junior Kelli Hine, who owns an 8-5 record at No. 1 singles.
The 100 Watch ...
At 93 wins on the season, senior Julia Jones only needs seven more wins to join the elite 100-club. Jones would be the fifth player in program history to reach this milestone.
National Rankings ...
The Rebels are ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA National Rankings. In the singles rankings, senior Julia Jones is ranked No. 14 and freshman Arianne Hartono is ranked No. 43 and junior Mai El Kamash is ranked No. 109.
